Dr Joohi Samarpita is blessed with modern sensibilities, and this gets amply reflected in her works. Her writings cover a range of contemporary issues, mostly connected with women and children who are among the most vulnerable groups in modern Indian society. Modernisation of brought in its wake a transformation in culture and ethos in the society and this is evident in her short stories and essays. Her stories are woven around real characters and their experiences. Her essays exhibit her deep seated concerns for women, children, familial ties and the much cherised values which are getting eroded by the onset of modernity. 'Katha-Lekh', a collection of stories and essays is a maiden venture by the author in compiling her works and thoughts in hard copy.
