A story that will tug at your heartstrings and make you question your identity and beliefs. The book describes the lives of two young girls growing up in loving families in urban middle-class India. Their paths have never crossed, but on the eve of their eighteenth birthday, the teenagers discover that they had been inadvertently exchanged at birth in the maternity home. As they get to know their birth family, the protagonists have to deal not only with a new set of parents and siblings but also a different religion. The book attempts to delve deeper into the motivation of ones religious beliefs. Does the accidental discovery of being the product of another religion change your beliefs? Asha and Ameena, living a carefree existence in affluent families, are thrown into a vortex of conflicting emotions as they interact with their birth family. With a slight adjustment in name, Aisha and Meena attempt to integrate in the new environment. The impact on their love lives are intertwined into the story.
