As I Recall

This is the story of a one-day bicycle ride taken by an eighty-year-old man along the Southern California Beach bike path for a twenty-four-mile round trip. As he stops to meet people and observe events, he is reminded of similar people, places, and events from his past. These memories comprise a series of vignettes filled with historical facts, humor, pathos, and nostalgia. From early childhood memories through school crushes and a myriad of his and others experiences, the book tells short stories that are at times humorous, sometimes profound, and always memorable. Historical moments taken from World War II and the Korean Conflict are retold alongside personal adventures, with such things as horse and motorcycle ownership, creating a captivating juxtaposition of serious and humorous events.
