Very little was known of the personal life of Mr. Swensen, professor of history in a small Midwestern college. Apparently a bachelor, he lived alone on the third floor of one of the buildings on campus and took most of his meals in the dining hall, usually sitting alone. While his courses were popular among students, his personal life remained a mystery. He had been born Karl Erickson in Reese Creek, Montana, a heritage he himself had been unaware of until later in his reclusive life. In a surprising, yet bittersweet turn of events he found love and discovered his own origins. As result, his career expanded in a way he had never before imagined.
