The dialogue between Christian faith and science, in particular with evolution, should not be defensive but positive and constructive. This essay takes the notion of evolution from science and gives it a theological context, one that recognizes how deeply anthropomorphism has confused our spiritual and religious options. That theological context avoids those misrepresentations that appear to be scientific but are also anthropomorphic, and to clarify the meaning of Christian faith in a way that speaks to our scientifically influenced critical culture. Its intention aims at enriching Christian life for those who internalize the questions that a secular scientific culture legitimately raises. More and more these questions press in on all of us. They are good questions, and they stimulate a deeper faith. If our world is evolutionary, we have to incorporate its reality in our faith vision.
