The Earth’s Prevailing Wind Belts

Readers Advance uses a series of full-color nonfiction science readers designed to address the challenges of reading in a content area. Each student book is written around a single science concept. The selected science topics correspond to the most popular science topics currently being taught at each grade level. The reading skills focus on the most important skills that students need as they enter their middle-school years‹high-utility sight words, phonics, structural analysis, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. These carefully selected skills are introduced in a three-tiered approach so the teacher can use direct teaching and guided/coaching teaching strategies to help make students become confident independent readers. These three approaches are based on best-practice instruction. Each full-color reader focuses on a popular science topic currently being taught at each grade level.
