Upon My Last Word of Honor

This is the true story of a mother and daughter’s journey. It is the author’s memoir of her strong Appalachian mother and grandmother, the daughter’s recollections of these women through her own memories, and those told to her by her mother. It is inspirational in the love given, lessons taught, and loss survived. It is written as a tribute to the women in her life that relied on their faith and their love that enabled them to conquer any obstacle. It is a reflection of how women’s lives differed so much then than of today, however, she is reminded by her mother that “God knows what he is doing!” is a message that has rung true through the generations of this family! This writing is full of raw emotion as roles change between the author and her first best friend, her mother!
