Margarita was born in the highlands of Guatemala, soon after her family relocated to the city, where she and her sisters were raised during the internal armed conflict between the years of 1960 - 1996. Her story is similar to many others around the world, where innocent children develop into life immersed in the besieged atmosphere of a political armed confrontation. She narrates impactful anecdotes of fright, death, surveillance and repression experienced as a direct result of her familial upbringing in a country at war, the emotional damage planted in her soul, and the long term scars and traumas that weighed on her spirit.
As any war, this war was caused by the pursue power justified as an aim for social equality and economic growth, at the expense countless innocent casualties, perhaps represented by a whole generation scarred individuals who trapped in the midst of war.
